Borna Barisic 'offered' Rangers transfer exit route as replacement mission intensifies around Doig, Oppegard and Smal

Rangers left-back Borna Barisic is reportedly set to be offered a deal by Dinamo Zagreb as he nears the end of his Ibrox contract.

The 31-year-old left Osijek in August 2018 for the Scottish Premiership side and has gone on make over 200 appearances in light blue, but his contract has been allowed to run down and he could leave Ibrox for nothing at the end of the campaign. The Croatia international is now free to speak to other clubs with his future up in the air - and while reports have suggested the likes of Roma and Aston Villa could be in the running Dinamo look to have made a move to bring Barisic back to his homeland.

Index report that there has been an interest from the current Croatian champions since the summer window and they are now set to make an approach. The report notes that they expect "competition" for a deal.

However, it is noted that should a deal be struck with the player it is not "impossible" he will leave Rangers this month in a cut-price deal. That will only see Philippe Clement's search for a left-back intensify with Ridvan Yilmaz also nearing an exit.

Hellas Verona star Josh Doig looks set to leave the Serie A side this month with the Light Blues watching on. However, Torino appear to be the frontrunners to land the Scotland U21 cap this month. Sport Italia claim that Udinese have also shown an interest - to add more danger to Rangers chances of landing the star.

Another option is reportedly FC Twente star Gijs Smal - who is nearing the end of his contract. The Dutch left-back is out of contract in the summer with reports suggesting that Eredevise side have resigned themselves to the 26-year-old leaving the club either in this window for a cut-price fee.
