Rangers transfer news bulletin as Ridvan Yilmaz 'would take' Galatasaray move amid Anass Salah-Eddine replacement link

Neil McCann reckons Ridvan Yilmaz would take a move back to Turkey with Galatasaray due to his lack of game time at Rangers - despite his scoring display in the win over Hibs.

The Turkish full back has been linked with an Ibrox exit throughout the January transfer window with Hellas Verona initially tipped as his destination, but now Galatasaray are favourites to land the 22-year-old. Philippe Clement has warned that neither Yilmaz, signed for £3.4 million from Besiktas with the fee rising to £5m with add-ons, or fellow left back Borna Barisic will be allowed to leave without a replacement.

Barisic is in the final six months of his contract but has been the first choice left back when fit. However, with the Croatian still coming back to fitness it was another chance for Yilmaz to shine when Rangers travelled to Easter Road on Wednesday. And he grabbed it with both hands as he netted the opening goal in a 3-0 win to cap an impressive display.

Ex Light Blues winger McCann, speaking on BBC Sportscene, believes Yilmaz could be looking for a move away having only made 16 appearances this season during an injury-plagued 18 months in Glasgow. McCann said: “The boy is maybe looking for a move because of his lack of use. He’s struggled to find consistency and have a freedom of injury where he’s getting a place in the team.

“If there’s an opportunity comes for the boy to go back to Turkey - there’s a suggestion of Galatasaray - I think the boy would take it but if they don’t get a replacement then I don’t think they should sell, they should keep him. He showed against Hibs there’s something there. He’s a full back that does his best work going forward. It’s how he is one-v-one defensively.
