Anass Salah-Eddine on Rangers transfer radar as they 'join race' with Serie A side for Ajax starlet

Rangers and Italian Serie A outfit Torino are reportedly battling it out with “several clubs” for Dutch left back starlet Anass Salah-Eddine.

The 22-year-old is currently with Ajax but the Eredivisie giants are said to be willing to let him move out on loan from the Johan Cruyff Arena, as they did last season when he went to Twente Enschede.

Rangers could be in the market for a left back with Light Blues boss Philippe Clement not willing to let either Galatasaray target Ridvan Yilmaz or Borna Barisic, available to negotiate a free transfer with his current contract up at the end of the season, leave during this window without having a replacement lined up as they battle in three competitions at home and abroad. Now renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has named Rangers as being one of the clubs linked with Salah-Eddine. He wrote: “Ajax are open to loan out Anass Salah-Eddine in the final days of the January transfer window. 2002 born Holland U21 left back in the list of several clubs including Rangers and Torino but race open, nothing agreed so far.”

Rangers had been linked with another full back in Holland - Twente Enschede’s Gijs Smal, who was a team-mate of Salah-Eddine’s last season but club sources are adamant that he is not one who is of interest to the Ibrox recruitment team.
