Barry Robson in Aberdeen FC transfer tease as boss pinpoints issue that is 'getting addressed' by recruits

Aberdeen boss Barry Robson has revealed he is set to land crucial central defensive recruits with key stoppers Rhys Williams and Angus MacDonald both struggling to make the season opener.

The Dons were defeated in Lancashire by English Championship side Preston, with the Pittodrie side forced to field a makeshift three-man defence. New loan signing Williams and MacDonald are both out injured and Robson admitted he’s keen to land a couple of defensive signings soon, with Aberdeen linked to Serbian defender Slobodan Rubezic.

He said: “Rhys has had a few issues with his back going into his calves. So he has had to go back and start again with his training regime. We don’t know how long that is going to take. Angus hurt his knee but we hoping he will be back in two weeks time. We are playing with Nicky Devlin playing in the middle of a back three so we know the situation with the centre backs.

“We know there’s an issue but it’s getting addressed and hopefully we will have some news very soon. We will just have to wait and see if the injured players make the start of the season but hopefully we will have other players in soon to give them a hand.”

However, there was some good news for last season’s third-place side with the return of last season’s joint top scorer Bojan Miovski who had been out with ankle ligament damage suffered in a game against St Mirren in May.
