Andre Onana comment proves he's doing something else David de Gea didn't at Manchester United
After all of the optimism that surrounded his arrival at Manchester United, Andre Onana has received his fair share of criticism over the past couple of weeks.
Onana replaced David de Gea at Old Trafford this summer after the Spaniard’s contract expired, with United fans hoping the Cameroon international's ability on the ball would transform the way they play.
While he certainly looks a lot more comfortable with the ball at his feet, Onana's shot-stopping ability has been questioned - particularly after his blunder against Bayern Munich - as has his relationship with his back-four. Jamie Carragher recently took aim at the former Inter Milan man, criticising him for his reaction to Harry Maguire after conceding a goal in United's pre-season friendly against Borussia Dortmund.

Onana hit back at suggestions of a rift between himself and Maguire, and his recent comments prove that he's a team player who just wants the best for United. “We are in this together. We win together, we lose together," he said.
"Clean sheets are for all of us. When we concede goals, the responsibility is [of] Andre Onana’s. My teammates are working hard, and if they have to point a finger, they have to point to me because I am the goalkeeper.”
Onana’s comments show the sense of togetherness Erik ten Hag has built since his arrival last year, something that has been lacking in recent seasons. While De Gea was often praised for speaking to the media after disappointing defeats in his later years at United, he would also occasionally distance himself from poor performances and wasn't afraid to call out his teammates.
