Former Manchester United goalkeeper slams 'very poor' Andre Onana error vs Brentford

Andre Onana has been slammed for an error that led to the opener in Manchester United's Premier League game with Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

Onana was signed for £47.2million from Inter Milan this summer to replace David de Gea. But it has not been a smooth start to life at United for the Cameroon international.

The 27-year-old made mistakes against both Bayern Munich and Galatasaray in the Champions League and has struggled to prove he's the goalkeeper to help take the club forward. He has now been criticised on MUTV by ex-goalkeeper Paul Woolston after Mathias Jensen scored for Brentford on Saturday.

Retired former United shot-stopper Woolston said: "If I'm inside that dressing room then I would be disappointed with myself. There are errors leading up to it, but that's a very, very soft goal to concede.

"It's quite similar to the ones he has been conceding with them going under him. Everyone is looking at him at the minute and he hasn't done himself any favours with, I would say, very poor goalkeeping.

"He should have saved it and if he's saying something different in the dressing room then I would be disappointed with him. He should be saving shots like that for Manchester United.

"If you come in as No.1, you have got to be saving that. I said pre-match, there are big gloves to fill from a goalkeeper saving you 18 points a season, then you have Onana not being as strong as you want as a goalkeeper."
