Alan Shearer and Micah Richards disagree on Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund transfer decision
Micah Richards and Alan Shearer are not in complete agreement over Manchester United's signing of Rasmus Hojlund.
Having allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to depart mid-season, United bided their time in settling on a replacement for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. Harry Kane was the main man on the radar but Erik ten Hag eventually set his sights on Hojlund and snapped him up for a fee that could rise to £72million with add-ons.
Although the Denmark international has shone during early international appearances, his record at club level, while decent, shows he remains a work in progress. However, the potential is clearly there as BBC pundits Richards and Shearer discussed on their new podcast.
Sitting down with Match of the Day host Gary Lineker before the season started, the pair waxed lyrical about Hojlund - and what he will provide United with moving forward - but Richards said the Old Trafford giants should have also pushed the boat out in a bid to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham.

On the Rest is Football podcast, Shearer said: "I think they have made some very good signings which will improve them. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Rasmus Hojlund can do. I know he's a youngster and they have paid a lot of money for him, but there's a lot of expectation on his head.
