Manchester United shouldn't miss opportunity to make star signing despite Rasmus Hojlund transfer

It looks like Manchester United have completed their attacking reinforcements for the summer, but sometimes opportunities are too good to pass up.

United finally captured their top target Rasmus Hojlund last weekend as they committed to pay up to £74million for the young, promising striker. It's a huge risk to bet so much on a largely inexperienced player but the club is confident their new 'rough diamond' will shine bright in the coming years.

But it's not going to be for a few weeks at least. Hojlund has arrived at Old Trafford with a back injury that is set to keep him sidelined for the first few matches and Erik ten Hag doesn't yet feel confident enough to put a date upon his return.

So regardless of how high the Danish starlet's potential is and whether or not he will reach it one day, the fact is he hasn't really solved United's striker problem just yet. Ten Hag went into the new campaign on Monday night with the same front line he relied on last season as Marcus Rashford had to play in an unfavoured central position.

Then even when Hojlund is fit, he isn't expected to come straight into the starting XI and have a seismic, game-changing impact. He is an investment for the future who can hopefully begin contributing this season. But that isn't the guaranteed source of goals United need.

Though on paper it looks as though Ten Hag has a lot of attacking options, it's not quite as deep in quality as it may seem. Anthony Martial can not be relied upon to stay fit and in an ideal world will be sold before deadline day, Jadon Sancho is yet to live up to his price tag, the jury is still out on Antony, Alejandro Garnacho is still just a teenager, Amad is injured,
