Two Tameside schools have been forced to implement lockdown procedures over the last 24 hours after 'hoax calls'. Fairfield High School for Girls was placed under lockdown on Friday afternoon (October 4) following what they described as an 'emergency incident' that turned out to be a hoax call.

The exact nature of the call is not known. It follows a near identical incident on Thursday (October 3) at Droylsden Academy.

Police were called to the Manor Road site after they received a 'hoax call from a member of the public with no known links to the school'.

It is not yet known whether the two calls were connected. READ MORE: I thought ‘Thank God maybe everything is ok’.
