11 Tennessee was one of the most anticipated games on the Week 8 college football slate. The matchup lived up to the hype and went down to the wire.

The Crimson Tide fell 24-17 and dropped to 5-2 on the year, which put a dent in their College Football Playoff hopes. Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe and Tennessee signal-caller Nico Iamaleava got off to sluggish starts.

Volunteers fans and presumably the coaching staff held their collective breath when Iamaleava went down after he was tackled hard.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are in unfamiliar territory. Following last week's loss to the Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville, the Tide dropped eight spots in the AP rankings to No. 15 and currently would likely be on the outside looking in at the expanded College Football Playoff. Jalen Milroe's Heisman hopes also took a hit, as he fell from 12-1 to 40-1 to take the award.

Oklahoma suffered its worst home loss since 2014. Michigan lost to Illinois for the first time since 2009. East Carolina became the first school of the season to fire its head coach.
