Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has once again pleaded with Gareth Bale to come back to Wales for 'one last year of glory'. McElhenney initially approached Bale regarding a move to Wrexham last month when the former Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur man sent the Always Sunny in Philadelphia star a congratulatory message on social media.

In a tweet, the 46-year-old responded: "Hey Gareth Bale let's play golf, where I totally won't spend four hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season." Bale's reply of: "Depends what course..." prompted both McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds to stoke the rumour mill further by tweeting a super imposed image of the winger in a Wrexham shirt with the caption: "What if." When asked by host Laura Woods if he would be interested in coming out of retirement to play for Wrexham, he said: "No I don’t think so. "I think I was more looking for a free round of golf off Rob.

I’m sure we’ll have a chat and a joke but I’m quite happy where I am, spending a lot of time with my kids and my wife, time that I’ve lost so much of over the years being committed to football." McElhenney is not taking no as an answer though and, in an appearance on The Aarthi & Sriram Show, he asked Bale to reconsider. "Gareth, okay – just you and me talking here for a second," he said. "I know Southern California is beautiful and I know, because I'm from Philadelphia and I've lived here for many many years.
