Rail passengers are being warned to check their train times as a new timetable comes into effect this weekend. Rail company, Northern, is altering its timetable with the changes starting on Sunday (May 21).

The majority of services while remain as they were, the operator has said, but it is urging people that make regular trips on the same trains to check the new timetable.

Passengers can use the 'check my timetable' feature on the Northern website to see details specific to their chosen station. READ MORE: Join the FREE Manchester Evening News WhatsApp community Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with 2,500 services a day to more than 500 stations across the north of England.

Some customers will notice a 'slight re-timing of service' and a 'very small number of services that have been removed from the timetable' - which reflects customer demand, according to Northern.
