Phillip Schofield's return to TV has already been confirmed after he sensationally quit This Morning after 20 years. The presenter said in a statement on Saturday (May 20) that the ITV daytime show had 'become the story' and that he wanted to "do what I can to protect the show that I love." Phillip, who it was confirmed had already presented his last episode on Thursday, May 18, said: "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning.
But recently, This Morning itself has become the story. "Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind.
I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love." I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers." The news came amid weeks of reports of a rift between Phillip and his co-host Holly Willoughby with claims the pair were 'barely speaking' behind the scenes.
