Paul Scholes thinks Mason Mount isn't starting for Manchester United because he upsets the balance of the team and his presence alongside Bruno Fernandes leaves the midfield too open.
Mount was Erik ten Hag's first signing of the summer transfer window and he joined from Chelsea for £55million plus £5m in add-ons.
The 24-year-old made his name as a creative midfielder during his time at Stamford Bridge, but he was brought to Old Trafford to play in a deeper midfield role and he was seen as the natural successor to Christian Eriksen.
Although Mount started the first two league games of the season, the midfield looked unbalanced and he picked up a hamstring injury in the defeat against Tottenham, which sidelined him for around five weeks.
