'Too many lazy players' - Paul Scholes blasts 'rubbish' Manchester United after Newcastle loss

Paul Scholes insists there are too many 'lazy' players at Manchester United after they lost 1-0 at Newcastle on Saturday. Erik ten Hag's side suffered their sixth Premier League defeat of the season at St James' Park, falling to a second-half Anthony Gordon winner as he got on the end of Kieran Trippier's cross.

Newcastle could have been comfortably ahead by that point and outfought their visitors for much of the 90 minutes. United were largely ineffective going forward until the introduction of Rasmus Hojlund and Antony, in place of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

But despite a minor late flurry, they were unable to equalise and Newcastle were well worthy of their win. RATINGS: Martial and Rashford poor in defeat vs Newcastle ALSO READ: Jenas slams 'shocking' Rashford performance vs Newcastle "Rubbish.

They’re a poor football team at this minute, aren't they?" Scholes told Premier League Productions. "Those results they’ve had recently are misleading. "Too many lazy players on the football team - you can’t get away with that.
