Gujarat Titans' Rashid Khan showcased his all-round abilities in a losing cause against Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2023 match on Friday.

Rashid (4/30) was the pick of the bowlers for GT, and also smashed a counter-attacking half-century. However, Rashid slammed 79* in just 32 balls, consisting of three fours and 10 sixes.

He put on an 88-run stand for the ninth wicket with Alzarri Joseph (7*) to take GT to 191/8 in their 20 overs. MI won the match by 27 runs.

Veteran cricket commentator and analyst Harsha Bhogle was in awe of Rashid's all-round show as he took to Twitter and showered a lot of praise on the Afghan all-rounder. "Soon, there will be nothing that Rashid Khan cannot do....." Bhogle tweeted.

Batting legend Ricky Ponting feels that India should have picked Hardik Pandya in their squad for the World Test Championships final against Australia in London, saying his all-round abilities could have turned out to be the deciding factor in the one-off game. Pandya has not played a Test since 2018 and he has opted sit out of the five-day format due to ongoing fitness concerns. But Ponting felt Pandya could have played in the winner-takes all clash at The Oval from June 7-11. Primarily because he has bowled in more or less every game in the just-concluded IPL for Gujarat Titans which he captains.
Former Indian cricket team opener Virender Sehwag came up with an extra special praise for Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni after his lightning quick stumping to dismiss Gujarat Titans batter Shubman Gill in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final on Monday. Gill missed a straight delivery from Ravindra Jadeja and Dhoni completed the dismissal with a reaction time of around 0.1 seconds. "Wow ! One can change bank notes from bank but behind the wickets one cannot change MS Dhoni ! Nahi badal sakte .. As fast as ever MS Dhoni," he tweeted.
Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja turned into a match-winner in the early hours on Tuesday, hitting 10 runs off the final 2 balls to hand Gujarat Titans a 5-wicket defeat and help his side win the Indian Premier League title for the 5th time. After Jadeja hit the winning runs, Dhoni gave the star cricketer the biggest of hugs, lifting him up in the air as he ran towards him as CSK clinched the title. While there have been rumours over an alleged conflict between Dhoni and Jadeja, the latter's Instagram DP put all those talks to bed.
The cricketing fraternity took to social media to express their admiration for young Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Sai Sudharshan, who lit up the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with a fine knock of 96 in just 47 balls during the Indian Premier League (IPL) final against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Monday. Sudharshan's knock consisted of eight fours and six sixes. His runs came at a strike rate of over 204. Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar heaped praises on his inning, saying that it was a treat to his eyes.
Former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris believes that Shubman Gill's release from Kolkata Knight Riders will go down as the biggest blunder in the history of franchise cricket. Gill, who is the leading run scorer in IPL 2023, has scored 851 runs in Gujarat Titans' road to the final this year. Gill, who bought by KKR ahead of IPL 2018, spent four seasons with the two-time champions. KKR released him ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. GT, however, were quick to pounce on him as they drafted Gill ahead of the auction.
