Mateo Mejía has signed a new Manchester United deal after being named on the retained list earlier this month. The 20-year-old was technically out of contract at the end of June, but has signed new terms to keep him at the club going forward.
Mejia was named on United's retained list, but the club was always confident of keeping him beyond his contract expiring at the end of this week.
The Manchester Evening News understands Mejia could also be loaned out next season as he looks to make the transition from youth football to the senior game. Read next: The Glazers or FFP?
The biggest obstacle United face in the transfer window The Colombian youngster joined the club from Spanish side Real Zaragoza in 2019 and has impressed at youth level despite his bad luck with injuries.
