Manchester United remain interested in Frenkie de Jong and and would be prepared to return for the Dutchman if he becomes available, according to reports.

De Jong has been a long-standing target for United, with Erik ten Hag keen to add more technical quality in midfield ever since his arrival over a year ago.

The Reds were in pursuit of the 26-year-old throughout last summer, having agreed a fee with Barcelona but failed to finalise personal terms due to an issue with De Jong's deferred wages at Barcelona from the Covid-19 pandemic.

De Jong has always maintained that he wanted to stay at Barcelona and established himself as a key player as Xavi's side won La Liga.
