Manchester United could be left with Anthony Martial beyond the summer transfer window after Erik ten Hag admitted his recovery from a muscular tear will be "a long one".
Martial sustained the injury during his 23-minute cameo in United's final Premier League game of the season against Fulham and the club confirmed on Monday he had been ruled out of the FA Cup final. "Yeah, going to be a long one but how long we don’t know," Ten Hag said. "We have to do more assessment." Martial has not completed 90 minutes in the Premier League since January 2021. The France striker has scored a meagre 17 United goals in the last three seasons and he is out of contract next year, although the club have the option of an additional year.
United have aimed to sell Martial in the summer but his latest injury and the recovery time could scupper any chance of a permanent move.
