Manchester United fans have slammed Casemiro after he lost the ball in the build-up to Alex Iwobi's opener for Everton. Erik ten Hag chose to start the Brazilian midfielder in the centre of the park against Omonia Nicosia following the 6-3 defeat to Manchester City last weekend.

The 30-year-old kept his place for the game on Merseyside, ahead of Scott McTominay, but was left with his head in his hands just moments into the match.

Casemiro received the ball near the halfway line but his hesitation allowed Amadou Onana to nick the ball off of him. Everton worked the ball well to Iwobi who curled a brilliant shot beyond the reach of David de Gea. A well worked move from the visitors sent the winger through on goal and he made no mistake against Jordan Pickford. Despite the equaliser, United fans remained unhappy with Casemiro's involvement in Everton's opening goal of this evening's contest.
