Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been named in the 2022/23 UEFA Europa League Team of the Season. United were beaten in the quarter-finals of the Europa League by Sevilla after surrendering a two-goal advantage in the first leg of the tie at Old Trafford, a draw which was followed by a disastrous performance in the reverse fixture.

Although they crashed out at the quarter-final stage, Rashford still managed to finish the Europa League campaign as the joint-top goalscorer in the competition and that has earned him a place in the Team of the Season. The academy graduate netted 30 goals in all competitions this term, making it by far the most prolific season of his career.

Chris Smalling and Nemanja Matic, who left United on a free transfer last summer, were both included in the team alongside Rashford after their side Roma, managed by Jose Mourinho, finished as runners-up.
