Manchester United will need to splash the cash this summer to try and bridge the gap to the best at home and abroad. Erik ten Hag's side finished third in the Premier League, but were nine points behind runners-up Arsenal and 14 adrift of champions City.

With United back in the Champions League next season, winning the Carabao Cup and having an FA Cup final still to come, there are hopes that consistent success and title challenges may not be far away.

But to do so there will need to be squad reinforcements. The Reds are keen on a striker with Harry Kane at Tottenham and Napoli's Victor Osimhen the leading targets.

Both could command £100million fees though and with additions required elsewhere in the squad, United will need to balance the books.
