Lord Pannick KC arrived at the International Dispute Resolution Centre in central London on Monday morning ahead of representing Manchester City in their hearing against the Premier League.
Pannick, 68, appeared to be the first lawyer present at the IDRC after being pictured alongside his colleague, Blackstone Chambers senior clerk Gary Oliver.
The House of Lords crossbencher is City's lead barrister on the case and successfully overturned the club's two-year ban from UEFA competitions at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2020.
Three years later, his name featured on a banner at the Etihad Stadium, which read: "Pannick on the streets of London." Philip Marshall KC and James Mather of Serle Court joined him in the capital on Monday.
