Man City charges - What we know so far as super legal team attend Premier League hearing

Lord Pannick KC arrived at the International Dispute Resolution Centre in central London on Monday morning ahead of representing Manchester City in their hearing against the Premier League.

Pannick, 68, appeared to be the first lawyer present at the IDRC after being pictured alongside his colleague, Blackstone Chambers senior clerk Gary Oliver. The House of Lords crossbencher is City's lead barrister on the case and successfully overturned the club's two-year ban from UEFA competitions at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2020.

Three years later, his name featured on a banner at the Etihad Stadium, which read: "Pannick on the streets of London." Philip Marshall KC and James Mather of Serle Court joined him in the capital on Monday.

The Lawyer reported on their arrival this morning, stating that Marshall and Mather arrived soon after their Blackstone contemporaries through a side door. Oliver is said to have even given camera crews in attendance a thumbs up, but none stopped to talk.

They have also reported that Pannick, who wore a dark tie with a sky blue design for the first day, will work alongside Paul Harris KC from Monckton Chambers, while City are utilising local law firm, Clifford Chance, too. Reports from elsewhere state that Adam Lewis KC, also of Blackstone, is the Premier League's senior barrister.

Andrew Hunter KC is another from the chamber representing the league, with some half a dozen more juniors working on the case. The Times reports that Bird & Bird’s law firm is also on the investigation.
