Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison is “too good” to be in a relegation battle, claims journalist Dean Jones. Brendan Rodgers’ men currently find themselves at the bottom of the Premier League table after losing six of their first seven fixtures of the new campaign.

Newcastle United will be following Leicester’s season closely as they continue to target Maddison. According to 90min, the Tyneside club remain interested in the 25-year-old after trying to sign him in the summer.

As per The Guardian, they had two bids rejected, including one worth £50m, with it being thought that Leicester wanted a fee closer to £60m.

Maddison’s Leicester team-mate Youri Tielemans is also believed to be on Newcastle’s radar. The Belgian has less than a year remaining on his current contract.
