Leicester: £110k-a-week star 'too good for relegation fight' at King Power

Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison is “too good” to be in a relegation battle, claims journalist Dean Jones.

Brendan Rodgers’ men currently find themselves at the bottom of the Premier League table after losing six of their first seven fixtures of the new campaign.

Newcastle United will be following Leicester’s season closely as they continue to target Maddison.

According to 90min, the Tyneside club remain interested in the 25-year-old after trying to sign him in the summer.

As per The Guardian, they had two bids rejected, including one worth £50m, with it being thought that Leicester wanted a fee closer to £60m.

Maddison’s Leicester team-mate Youri Tielemans is also believed to be on Newcastle’s radar. The Belgian has less than a year remaining on his current contract.

Jones thinks Maddison is too good to be fighting relegation with Leicester at the King Power Stadium this term.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “What we can’t ignore is that Maddison’s performance levels have been so good this season in a team that are struggling, and he has to start thinking about what happens next. He’s too good to be in a relegation fight.”

As Jones has mentioned, while Leicester are really struggling right now, Maddison has still been able to put in some good performances.

In six Premier League appearances, the £110,000-a-week star has scored three goals and provided one assist, which is an impressive return considering the circumstances.
