Leeds United will continue to monitor PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo ahead of January, says journalist Pete O’Rourke. The Yorkshire club were said to have been keen on signing the 23-year-old during the summer transfer window, but they were unable to land him in the end.
Many teams, including Leeds. As per The Athletic, director of football Victor Orta travelled to the Netherlands in his bid to buy the player.
However, according to the same outlet, PSV decided against selling Gakpo despite initially having an asking price for him. A report from The Telegraph claims they wanted a fee of around £38m for the Dutchman after rejecting a £21.4m offer from Southampton.
As well as Leeds and Southampton, Manchester United were also thought to have had an interest in Gakpo, but they opted to sign Antony after they were finally able to agree an £80m-plus deal with Ajax.
