"I have a sneaky suspicion…" – Journalist hints at double Southampton signing in key position

Southampton could look to sign two strikers this summer, according to The Sun journalist Tom Barclay. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side scored only 42 goals in the Premier League last season and will be hoping to improve their frontline in the current window.

Heading into pre-season, Saints have just two strikers under contract in Che Adams and Adam Armstrong. Since last season finished, Southampton have lost Armando Broja, who returned to parent club Chelsea, although he’s expected to be sold before the window closes, with West Ham currently pushing for his signature.

Meanwhile, Shane Long, whose deal officially runs out later this month, is yet to commit his future to the St Mary’s Stadium outfit and could leave once his deal expires and he becomes a free agent.

As a result, Barclay has a feeling that Hasenhuttl could target two frontmen in the window and give himself four striker options to choose from for the upcoming season.
