Two-goal Gary Lockyer helped to steer Ashford into the FA Trophy third qualifying round as they saw off Hartley Wintney on Saturday.

Striker Lockyer moved to 10 goals for the season, adding to his 47th-minute opening goal midway through the second period. Sam Bartlett struck 10 minutes from time to give Hartley Wintney hope of a comeback at Homelands but Danny Kedwell’s Isthmian South East side held on for a 2-1 victory.

Herne Bay were 3-0 home winners against divisional rivals Three Bridges. Kane Haysman gave them the dream start in the sixth minute at Winch’s Field and fellow midfielder Scott Heard doubled their tally on the stroke of half-time.

Ukrainian midfielder Artem Kuchkov then wrapped it up for Steve Lovell’s team with his second goal in three games before the hour mark as they got the better of former Bay midfielder Archie Burnett.
