Australia batter David Warner has revealed how Ricky Ponting taught him a lesson after he played a prank on him. Warner, who is made his Australia debut under Ponting's captaincy, has revealed a unheard tale from his first overseas tour in 2010.

Notably, Warner led the Delhi Capitals in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL), with Ponting as the head coach of the franchise.

Warner recalled that he once put "vegemite" on the key hole of Ponting's hotel room. "During my first away series, which was in South Africa in 2010, Ricky Ponting's room was next to me.

I thought it would be smart to put vaceline on his door handle. I also put vegemite on his keyhole. I was looking through my peep hole that he was trying to open his door.

After the left-hander moved the momentum of the ICC World Test Championship Final towards his side with a magnificent century on the opening day in London, Australian great Ricky Ponting is at ease comparing Travis Head to Adam Gilchrist. On an action-packed day at The Oval when Australia dominated, Head delivered his first Test century in England and the sixth of his career with a magnificent unbeaten 146* from just 156 deliveries. A compelling 251-run unbroken partnership between Travis Head (146 not out) and Steve Smith (95 not out) was the highlight of the first day of the World Test Championship Final 2023, as Australia finished at a strong 327 for three at the end of the day's play.
India were off to a disappointing start on Day 1 of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at the Oval. Travis Head scored a brilliant ton while Steve Smith provided proper support to finish at 327 for the loss of 3 wickets. The Indian bowlers did not look quite impressive and former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja had an interesting point to make about their performance. Raja said that India should have played some games ahead of the WTC Final in order to get acclimatised to the conditions and the lack of preparation can end up hurting them.
Australian left-handed batter Usman Khawaja believes that his opening partner David Warner is showcasing some best cricket for quite some time. Two months ago in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the left-handed batter only managed to score 26 runs from three innings against India. Overall Warner has had a poor form according to his own standards. His excellence was on display last year as he struck a mesmerising 200 in his 100th Test match against South Africa in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. But now Warner will be looking to overcome his poor form of run and showcase his true skill and experience.
