Can Man United appeal Bruno Fernandes red card? UEFA process after Tottenham ban overturned

manchestereveningnews.co.uk

Manchester United cannot appeal the red card issued to Bruno Fernandes during their chaotic 3-3 draw against Porto on Thursday.

The 30-year-old, who was booked in the first half, was sent off in the 81st minute after receiving his second yellow card for a high boot on defender Nehuen Perez.

As his sending off came in the Europa League and wasn't deemed as a 'serious offence', Fernandes will be available for United's Premier League trip to Aston Villa on Sunday and will instead serve a one-match suspension in their next UEFA club competition match.

It means the Portuguese will be unavailable for the game against Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce later this month. Fernandes was also shown his marching orders during the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.
