Returning Calvin Ramsay made the most of a 28-minute cameo for Liverpool's U21s as he scored and almost sparked an improbable EFL Trophy comeback.
But while Accrington Stanley held on for a 3-2 win there was plenty for both Reds and Scottish football fans to get giddy about.
Ramsay's over his injury problems and he netted with his left peg after great work by academy standout Ben Doak. It was then the turn of the former Celtic star to find the net and leave Accrington sweating as their 3-0 lead heading into stoppage time was wiped out by the standout Scots.
Ramsay appears a perfect fit for Liverpool as U21 boss Barry Lewtas encouraged the 19-year-old former Aberdeen star to bomb on down the wing and that's how he found himself in the box to fire home.
