An accident has closed part of the A465 Heads of the Valleys road on Friday morning. It is closed from Cefn Coed to Pant Industrial Estate.

Closed in both directions.Traffic Wales has warned motorists: "Avoid area if possible." A statement from South Wales Police said: "We are at the scene of a serious collision on the A465 Merthyr, opposite Pen Y Dre High School."The road is currently closed in both directions.

It is expected to remain closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.

Delays are expected in the area."Monitoring system Inrix says: "A465 Heads of the Valleys Road in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident from A470 (Cefn Coed Roundabout) to Pant Industrial Estate."
