Footlong naan rolls filled with fresh flavours inspired by Indian street food have arrived in Manchester.
Rola Wala will open its first permanent restaurant outside of Leeds in Deansgate on Thursday (November 9). Inspired by the streets of Kolkata and Bombay, it’s a fresh and healthy spin on the traditional Indian takeaway, offering naan rolls, rice bowls and tikka tacos.
Each dish is filled with either butter chicken, chicken tikka, pulled lamb, sweet potato saag or a chickpea masala. From then, you choose your choice of fresh salads and garnishes - from pickled cabbage, sweetcorn and chilli peppers - and chutneys or sauces.

Naan rolls and rice bowls are available in two sizes, with a regular costing £7.95 and a large at £8.95, while naan tacos are available in two (£5.90) or three (£7.45). There are also sides, such as masala fries (£2.45) and poppadom chips (£1.45) to choose from.
The restaurant is the brainchild of Mark Wright, who set the business up initially as a street food stall in London. The first permanent Rola Wala restaurant was opened at Leeds Trinity Way in 2016.
“We make everything fresh here,” founder Mark tells the M.E.N ahead of the restaurant’s opening day. “Everything is made on the day using fresh ingredients. We have at least 48 different ingredients in each of the dishes.”
With many meals coming in under 500 calories and containing more than 30g of protein, it’s also hoped to be popular with those looking for healthier lunch options. And, at the weekend,
