Zwane keeps Bafana Bafana spot as Timm, Saleng receive debut call-ups

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has named his final 23-man squad for the international friendly matches against Mozambique and Angola.

South Africa will entertain their Mozambican neighbours at the Mbombela Stadium on Thursday, 17 November (20:30) before facing Angola three days later at the same venue on Sunday, 20 November (14:00).

After receiving his recall to the national team since Broos's arrival in 2021 as mentor, Themba Zwane impressed the Belgian-born boss so much in the last camp that the the 33-year-old maintained his place in the squad.

Along with the veteran Zwane, Broos also held onto Siyanda Msani, Luke Le Roux, Mihlali Mayambela, Zakhele Lepasa and Kgaogelo Sekgota as they too will get another opportunity at donning Bafana colours.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates duo of Miguel Timm and Monnapule Saleng were handed their debut call-ups to the senior national team.

The Buccaneers midfielders are fresh off their MTN8 triumph over AmaZulu, helping the club win the tournament for the second time in three years at Moses Mabhida Stadium last Saturday.

Defenders: Sydney Mobbie, Thibang Phete, Siyanda Xulu, Siyanda Msani, Rushine De Reuck, Thapelo Morena, Aubrey Modiba, Grant Kekana.

Midfielders: Miguel Timm, Njabulo Blom, Teboho Mokoena, Luke Le Roux, Monnapule Saleng

Forwards: Khanyisa Mayo, Lyle Foster, Mihlali Mayambela, Fagrie Lakay, Themba Zwane, Zakhele Lepasa, Kgaogelo Sekgota.
