Work ongoing to get bags to passengers after Manchester Airport 'luggage issue'

Work is ongoing to get delayed luggage to passengers following a 'baggage issue' at Manchester Airport.

The issue earlier this week left some passengers without luggage as they landed abroad. The problem affected check-in at Terminal 2 at the airport on Monday and Tuesday.

Manchester Airport's 'resilience team' was called upon to keep check-in and security operations running while the problems were fixed. On Wednesday, an airport spokesperson said the baggage system was 'fully back up and running'.

Bosses apologised to those affected for the inconvenience. Now, work remains ongoing between airlines and baggage partners to reunite bags with passengers.

A spokesperson for the airport said they are working to get all delayed bags 'where they need to be as soon as possible'. In a statement, a spokesperson for Manchester Airport said: "We experienced an issue with our baggage handling system in Terminal 2 on Monday and Tuesday, which has now been resolved.

"While the vast majority of luggage was unaffected, we are aware some passengers have faced delays in being reunited with their luggage, for which we apologise. Our airlines are working with their partners to get all delayed bags to where they need to be as soon as possible.

"We are providing whatever support we can, including the deployment of our airport resilience team."
