'I miss him' - Chelsea star makes Mason Mount admission after Manchester United transfer

Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka admits he 'misses' Mason Mount after his move to Manchester United.

The 24-year-old was Erik ten Hag's first summer signing after completing a deal to arrive at Old Trafford. Negotiations were long and protracted but an agreement was finally reached.

As a product of the Chelsea academy, Mount was hugely popular at Stamford Bridge, making his exit more painful for the club. He was well-liked around the club too and an important figure in the dressing room. Whilst on their tour of the US, Chukwuemeka was asked about Mount whilst signing autographs. He simply replied: "It is what it is, I miss him."

Mount is part of the United group that is in the US for their pre-season tour. They will face Arsenal on Saturday night where the new signings will hope to get more minutes under his belt.

Ten Hag has earmarked Mount to play alongside Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in midfield. His off-the-ball work allows him to play as a number eight and it's a role he enjoys.

"I really liked that role [No.8] today, being able to drop in deep and get on the ball and start the play from a bit deeper, but also having the freedom to get forward and get in the box and try to make the runs in behind and help the press," he said.

"I really enjoy that position, being able to do both sides and also being able to start off the press, like when I nearly had that chance. I thought it worked really well. We've had a tough week but great to have 45 minutes in the tank now."
