Wolves target Burnley star Connor Roberts in deal that has transfer impact on Blackpool

Burnley star Connor Roberts has been linked with a move to Premier League side Wolves.

Wales international Roberts only joined Burnley a year ago, signing a four year deal when arriving from Swansea City for a fee in the region of £2.5million. But Wolves, who have also been credited with an interest in Clarets centre back Nathan Collins, are ready to offer the full back a route back into the top flight, according to The Sun.

And the report claims Burnley could firm up interest in Blackpool right back Jordan Gabriel and battle the Seasiders for Burton Albion prospect Tom Hamer as replacements. The latter is out of contract in the Midlands and there are suggestions a fee of around £400,000 could be agreed to avoid a tribunal.

Blackpool could also enter the race for the 23-year-old should they lose full back Gabriel, who only arrived at Bloomfield Road a year ago. He made 19 starts in the Championship last season. New Blackpool boss Michael Appleton is keen to add to his squad ahead of the campaign, telling Lancs Live last week: "I think there’s a couple of areas of the squad that we’ll certainly look to try and improve and add to.

"For us to be able to deal with that and adapt to the different types of situations we’re going to need over 20 players clearly, it’s not just about 11 players that need to put the shirt on.

“I felt that from the interview process with Simon and Ben initially and Brett and then John (Stephenson) being able to put a structure in place where it makes the life of the Head Coach a lot easier.
