Wolves: Lage could sell academy product for £20m at Molineux

Wolves want Morgan Gibbs-White to sign a new contract, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

The 22-year-old has returned to Molineux following an exceptional loan spell with Sheffield United, although his long-term future at Wolves is in doubt, with only two years remaining on his current deal.

Gibbs-White was one of the standout players in the Championship this term, directly contributing to 20 goals in just 35 appearances as he chipped in with 11 goals and nine assists.

The midfielder’s form saw the Blades finish in the play-offs, although their hopes of returning to the top-flight were ended after they were beaten by Nottingham Forest on penalties, with the Wolves ace one of three players to miss in the shootout.

But it didn’t overshadow what was a productive loan stint, which has prompted Wolves to offer him a new deal amid speculation surrounding his future, with Italian champions AC Milan one side interested in him.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “There’s a lot of interest in Morgan Gibbs-White, I’m just trying to stand up exactly where that’s going. I think Wolves would like to sign him to a new contract, but if he’s a player they can get £20m for, they might see that as a good investment and a chance to rebuild.”

And while in more than 80 appearances for the Midlands outfit, Gibbs-White’s Wolves career still hasn’t properly got going, Lage will be hoping his time with the Blades will give him the confidence to develop into a key player next
