Man Utd: Ten Hag could 'sound out' £100m Nunez alternative at Old Trafford

Manchester United could “sound out” a deal for Tammy Abraham, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Erik ten Hag’s side are set to to miss out on Darwin Nunez and Crook reckons the Roma striker could become an alternative.

According to Corriere della Sera (via The Sun), United have joined the running for the England star, with Arsenal already in the race for the ex-Chelsea frontman.

The report states that United would be willing to pay £76m, but the Daily Mail believe Roma have set a £100m asking-price for their talisman, who enjoyed an exceptional first season in the Italian capital.

Abraham scored 27 goals and struck nine times in Europe to help Jose Mourinho’s side end their long wait for a trophy by winning the the Europa Conference League.

With United in desperate need of a proven goalscorer, Crook reckons they could turn their attention to the 24-year-old but believes Mourinho might be a potential issue in convincing Abraham to move to Old Trafford.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It wouldn’t surprise me if they were sounding out Tammy Abraham again. I know they’ve looked at him in the past and he’s done well in Italy, but Mourinho is the problem.

In his two full years at Chelsea, Abraham scored 21 Premier
