Wolves: 'Special' £22.5m target 'one to watch out for' at Molineux

Wolves are working hard behind-the-scenes to bring in some new signings this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Midlands-based club have not spent big under Bruno Lage in the past couple of windows, but that could be about to change.

Sporting Lisbon’s Joao Palhinha is a name that keeps cropping up.

Wolves were also linked with him last summer after the won the Portuguese title in 2020/21, and he has been described by his manager Ruben Amorim as “special“. The Premier League outfit are expected to submit an offer for the £22.5m-rated midfielder in the near future, according to A Bola.

Meanwhile, Italian outlet Calciomercato has claimed that Wolves are closing in on signing another Sporting player in the shape of defender Goncalo Inacio. It is understood that he would cost around £30m.

Jones has hinted that there is a real possibility that Palhinha could move to Molineux, and he has claimed that Wolves are keen to back Lage to give him the squad that he wants ahead of next term.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: “Palhinha is definitely one to watch out for. I think that Wolves have got a few things going on in the background at the moment, which they are excited about, and they do want to give Lage backing.”

Lage led Wolves back into the top half last season, which was no mean feat after their disappointing previous campaign which saw them finish down in 13th place.

However, the team fell away badly at the end of the season as they failed to win any of their last seven league games. Having threatened to break into the European places, Wolves finished with a whimper instead.
