Wolves: Bruno Lage 'could settle' at £50m for Molineux star

Wolverhampton Wanderers would be willing to sanction Manchester United target Ruben Neves’ departure from Molineux if a bid worth up to £50million is tabled, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Neves has been on Wolves’ books since completing a then-club record switch from Porto – worth £15.8million – close to five years ago, but it appears he could be on his way out of the West Midlands this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Neves would prefer to remain in the Premier League if he were to secure a big-money move away from Wolves.

The report suggests Wolves would demand a fee of £70million for the 26-cap Portugal international and Neves’ preference would seemingly put Manchester United and Arsenal ahead of fellow suitors Barcelona and Juventus in the race for his signature.

It comes just a matter of weeks after head coach Bruno Lage insisted his fellow countryman is worth £100million.

Neves’ £50,000-per-week contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024, but Wolves are eager to see the central midfielder commit his long-term future to the club.

According to The Sun, the West Midlands side opened discussions with Neves over fresh terms in March, with them keen to keep him out of the clutches of admirers.

Jones believes Wolves will struggle to secure a fee of £70million for Neves in the upcoming transfer window.

The journalist feels the Portuguese could leave Molineux for a smaller fee ahead of next season, with Manchester United remaining in the hunt.
