Leeds: £40.5m star looks 'bewildered' at Elland Road

Leeds United winger Raphinha has looked “bewildered” and “distracted” recently, claims David Anderson of the Daily Mirror.

The 25-year-old continues to be linked with a move away from Elland Road, and Anderson believes an exit is inevitable if Jesse Marsch’s men fail to beat the drop this season.

Raphinha thrived in the first half of the 2021/22 campaign, scoring eight Premier League goals before the new year.

However, recently, the £40.5m-rated Brazilian has really come off the boil. Since January, he has scored just twice, which has not helped Leeds in their battle for survival.

His dip in form coincides with Barcelona and West Ham registering an interest in him.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, both of the aforementioned teams are keen on signing Raphinha, who is thought to be holding out for the former.

Anderson believes all the speculation surrounding Raphinha’s future is distracting the Brazil international, who he expects to leave Elland Road this summer if Leeds get relegated.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Daily Mirror reporter said: “He looked a bit bewildered, a bit distracted at the Emirates last Sunday. Is he distracted by all the speculation?

“We know that Barcelona want him. We know if they go down, he’s definitely going to leave; he’s got a buy-out clause in his contract. So it’s a tough one to get his head right to basically dig Leeds out of this deep, deep hole that they’re in.”

There is no denying that Raphinha has not been at his best recently. However, he has the quality to win Leeds games, quality Marsch needs to see in the Whites’ last two fixtures.
