Fourth Wolves exit confirmed as Bruno Lage reveals how many transfers he wants

Ruben Vinagre becomes the fourth high profile departure from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer after Sporting confirmed they have signed the Portuguese left-back permanently.

Vinagre spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Sporting and featured 12 times in the Primeira Liga under Ruben Amorim. Before joining Sporting last year, the 23-year-old spent time on loan with Olympiakos and Famalicao after falling out of favour at Wolves.

A permanent move to Sporting was triggered earlier this year and the Portuguese club have announced the deal in their latest accounts, as per Record. Sporting have paid €10million (£8.5m) to sign Vinagre and Wolves have inserted a 50 percent sell-on clause in the deal.

It might not be the last piece of business completed between Sporting and Wolves this summer with midfielder Joao Palhinha being lined up for a transfer to Molineux. Wolves view Palhinha, who is valued at £21m, as a replacement for Ruben Neves.

Palhinha is no longer a guaranteed pick for Sporting manager Amorim due to the form of Matheus Nunes and Manuel Ugarte. Wolves have tracked the 26-year-old for three years and could finally act on their interest.

Bruno Lage hopes that selling ‘one or two’ players will give Wolverhampton Wanderers the budget to add ‘five or six’ players to his squad this summer.

The Wolves head coach is expecting a busy transfer window with three departures already confirmed, while doubts remain over the futures of Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves. Moutinho’s contract expires shortly and Neves is the subject of intense transfer speculation.
