Tottenham: £72m favourite now tipped to stay at Hotspur Way

Tottenham forward Heung Min Son might have missed his opportunity to sign for a “mega club”, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The £72m-rated forward international has been one of the best players in the Premier League since he arrived in 2015, but his form has never been publicly picked up by any of Europe’s top clubs.

Son arrived in English football with a growing reputation as a goalscoring winger following promising spells with Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen.

But not even the most optimistic Spurs supporter would have envisaged the 29-year-old becoming one of the world’s top attacking players.

Having recovered from a shaky first campaign in north London, Son has gone on to score at least 18 goals in each of the last six years, with the South Korea international currently sitting on 129.

Despite establishing himself as arguably the most clinical player in the Premier League, Son’s future has never been in doubt, with Bayern Munich in 2018 the only club to register their interest in his services.

But Son stayed at the club and committed his long-term future to Tottenham last summer when he signed a new four-year contract despite the club failing to even qualify for the Europa League.

Therefore, with Son just two months away from his 30th birthday and only 25 per cent of the way through his current deal, Bridge doesn’t think there’s any chance that he’ll leave any time soon.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “You would imagine now maybe with age starting to go against him, that maybe his time to sign for a mega club or a regular Champions League club might have gone, because his best years have been at Tottenham.”
