Why Manchester United have the edge on PSG in Rasmus Hojlund transfer pursuit

Manchester United should have the edge on PSG when it comes to their pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund because the player is a self-confessed United fan.

MEN Sport reported this week that United are confident of signing a striker before they face Wolves on the August 14. Hojlund is their primary target after receiving no encouragement from Tottenham that a deal to sign Harry Kane would be possible.

United are willing to pay up to £60million for the Danish striker and believe in Erik ten Hag's ability to mould him into one of Europe's finsest attackers. Hojlund wants the move himself despite reported interest from PSG.

Fortunately for United, the 20-year-old grew up as a United fan and that might help sway him towards Old Trafford if a fee is agreed.

Speaking in January, Hojlund revealed: “ Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan. So personally, it would be one of the biggest things for me, but of course, that doesn’t mean that I would turn down other big clubs if the offers come at some point.”

Speaking earlier in the season, Atalanta sporting director Tony D'Amico talked up Hojlund's potential.

He said: "More than a gamble, Hojlund is a great investment that the club very much wants. Few players from 2003 have this amount of playing time in Italy. He has great room for improvement and, with [Gian Piero] Gasperini, he can become very strong.”
