Manchester United have three striker options without Rasmus Hojlund

Erik ten Hag insists Manchester United have three options up front in the absence of new signing Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund completed a £72million transfer to United earlier this month but the announcement was delayed after a stress hotspot fracture of the back was flagged during his medical.

United sent Hojlund to London for extensive examinations before they finalised the deal and the Denmark international could have to wait until next month for his debut.

Marcus Rashford started up front in United's penultimate pre-season friendly against Lens at Old Trafford and scored while Jadon Sancho lined up at centre forward in four of the first-team's seven friendlies.

Anthony Martial resumed team training on the tour of the United States and is available for selection again but has not played in 11 weeks.

"We are not in a rush," Ten Hag said. "We know without him we have also a strong team and the position is covered. So we don’t rush in this.

"It is about that he is in the right level, from first fitness level, and then we have to integrate him with training and we will bring him in the games, so we take our time. It is not about winning in this moment, it is about winning in the long-term.

"I am quite calm and composed in this situation, because Rashy is very good as a striker - we have seen last Saturday. Anthony Martial is available as well and then we have Jadon Sancho, who did very well in pre-season.

"So we constructed a squad that can deal with this. We are not doing things overnight, we constructed the squad and there's a strategy behind it.
