Why Bojan Miovski is out of Aberdeen FC squad as Jimmy Thelin reveals sit down with his wanted man

Jimmy Thelin has explained why Bojan Miovski was left out for the clash with Queen of the South following a "good chat" with the striker amid rising speculation over the future of the striker.

Bologna appear to be ramping up interest in the Dons' talisman with Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee set to leave the Serie A giants for Manchester United. There is growing interest from across Europe in the North Macedonia international - and questions marks over his Pittodrie future have only escalated after Miovski was left out of the Premier Sports Cup opener in Dumfries.

While Aberdeen are in a good position because Miovski still has two years left on his contract - Thelin admitted that after talks over his future he opted to leave the star man out of the first competitive game of the campaign. Asked for an update on Miovski's situation at the club, Thelin told Premier Sports: "We had a good chat with him, there is a lot of things going around right now, so I had a good chat with him yesterday and we decided he should not play this game and keep working next week together."

Duk is also subject of disciplinary action amid speculation over his future. The Cape Verde international missed the pre-season trip to Portugal with a medical issue but has since failed to return to Cormack Park.

With the forward appearing to be heading for the exit door, Thelin was asked for an update on the situation. He replied: "No sorry, I can't."
