Who Rangers could replace Michael Beale with before Europa League clash as UEFA Pro Licence headache adds to crisis

Pressure is mounting on Michael Beale after the disastrous defeat to Aberdeen and large sections of the Rangers support are calling for him to be axed now.

But the 3-1 defeat to the Dons comes amidst a packed fixture list for the Ibrox side who have a Europa League group stage clash with Aris Limassol to consider in midweek before they face in-form St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership before the league goes into cold storage for the international break. While Beale will be hoping he is given the chance to lead Rangers during their trips to Cyprus and Paisley the Ibrox supporters appears to have made up their mind.

While a big decision faces the Ibrox powerbrokers, speculation has been swirling online that Beale will be given the Europa League showdown as the club would not be able to turn to any other coach that holds a UEFA Pro Licence. A coach must have achieved the Pro Licence to be allowed to take charge of teams in European competition, a problem Hearts faced when Steven Naismith couldn't be named Head Coach while they still had European games to contend with.

And while Rangers may stick with Beale, it does not appear that this would be a factor in their decision. The Londoner could take his coaching staff with him if he leaves Govan in the coming days, but B team coach David McCallum also holds the Pro Licence.

McCallum managed Rangers Women last term but has had a change of role this term. He is currently leading the next generation of talent this term, and could present a temporary first-team solution for the Glasgow giants.
