When Manchester United and Erik ten Hag will have a fully fit squad amid injury woes

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been keen to stress injuries in his squad will not be used as an excuse for a lack of results.

However, the Dutchman has also admitted he has yet to pick his strongest XI while at United. Prior to the defeat at Bayern Munich, he said: "One thing is true, from the start of last season I don't think I ever started with, in my opinion, the best starting XI.

There were always injuries. We always got results apart from the period we are in now. I have experienced it in the past and managed it. You have to deal with it. I like these situations because you have to handle it and know what to do, and that is focusing on the process."

Before the trip to Sheffield United, Ten Hag provided positive news about a number of injury concerns in the squad. The likes of Sergio Reguilon, Kobbie Mainoo and Raphael Varane could all be welcomed back this weekend while Casemiro is expected to return for the Manchester derby next weekend.

Long term injuries still persist though and it might be a while before Ten Hag can have a fully fit squad to choose from, further troubles permitting. The first match back after the November international break has been forecast for Luke Shaw's return. The left-back was a key figure for the Reds last season and his loss has been felt.

United's first game back after the next break comes on Sunday, November 26 when they travel to Everton in the Premier League. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to be out for a similar length of time as Shaw so the Reds should have a range of full-backs to choose from in a month's time.
